Thrun, Sebastian, 1967-

Dr. Sebastian Thrun came to Carnegie Mellon in 1995. He became the co-director of the Learning Robots Laboratory in 1998. In the late 1990s, Thrun also started the Nursebot project with colleagues from other universities, including nursing professionals from the University of Pittsburgh. Thrun's main work is in probabilistic robotics, a more theoretical part of the field, but he has also done research in mobile robotics and mapping.
