About the Collection
Carnegie Mellon University launched the Robotics Institute in 1979, making it the first robotics department at a university. This collection contains artifacts and ephemera from its history, including annual research reviews and a variety of publications, videotapes, research materials, and robotics artifacts. The collection also contains advertising materials and ephemera such as newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and brochures about various projects in field robotics and other areas.
