The Snackbot was a project started in the late 2000s to study human-robot interaction. Funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, Snackbot put the same emphasis on the design process that the functional abilities normally receive. Users could order a snack on Snackbot's website and the robot would deliver it to their office. It could be controlled by a human or operate autonomously.
